In the latest attempt to curb its growing population, India proposed a real life hunger games. With the fastest growing population in the world, India has failed to install any permanent means of population control until now. President Pranab Mukherjee came up with the brilliant idea after reading the Hunger Games trilogy. His immediate response to finishing the last book was to call his cabinet together and share the genius he had just learned. All members quickly agreed except for the prime minister Manmohan Singh who deemed it “absolutely insane,” “inhumane,” and “ a violation of human rights”. Following the meeting Manmohan Singh resigned due to a sudden illness that left him brain dead.
President Mukherjee set his plans into motion immediately by dividing India into five hundred districts. Each district will submit 20 tributes to participate in the games and there shall only be one winner per year. President Mukherjee plans on building a massive arena out of Elephanta Island east of Mumbai as the location of the event. As a result of the large number of participants, President Mukherjee dictated that each participant must start at a one mile radius from a cornucopia, which houses weapons and supplies. It is expected that the combination of numbers of contestants and size of the island will make for and entertaining show. President Mukherjee hopes this will not only provide suitable population control but also boost the nations economy and help bring it into the modernized world. His plans also include a grand viewing area where locals and tourists can cheer for their favorite contestant on a five hundred foot t.v. screen. His plans also include luxury hotels, theme parks, and a winners resort. The winners resort provides housing, food and recreation for the winners of the games. Its size allows for thousands of winners, ensuring the games success in the future. China is already hailing this as the next big thing in population control and is already planning a hunger games of its own, while President Obama is already hailing President Mukherjee for his creative genius and initiative.
