Enough!

10…9…8…7…6…5…4…3…2…Enough!

With another holiday season behind us I’d like to discuss something that has been upsetting me lately, that would be countdowns on television. Every year Halloween we all see the supermarket shift from that holiday to Christmas and then we comment on how early it is to see the decorations up. However we never question it when ABC family runs the countdown to the twenty five days of Christmas. The problem is that the twenty five days of Christmas is in fact a countdown, so they are counting down to a countdown.

When will they stop! Soon we will have the Christmas in July countdown to the end of summer countdown to the fall countdown to the Halloween countdown to the countdown to the count to the twenty five days of Christmas! Another thing that is upsetting is that they mix in other movies into their Christmas movies to try to hide the fact that it is still a Christmas countdown, it is almost like the ABC executives were like we need to trick people into believing that this is just a countdown and we are not dumb enough to count down to a countdown. The result being a veiled attempt to hid what it really is. It is easy to understand why they want to cash in on the holiday spirit as people are suckers for it that time of year and the channels make good money. Plus, in the case of the Hallmark, which seems to have made it their goal to make the corniest movies ever, the Christmas movies are their best movie showing time due to the fact that audiences only want really corny movies during Christmas time. We accept that it is corny and accept it and love it because it’s Christmas time. We allow this to happen to happen because as long as there is money to be made on these countdowns they will keep doing it but I say NO MORE! No one should watch these countdowns until the actual countdown. I say we protest these atrocities by boycotting these stupid countdown countdowns, unless elf is on because that is a hilarious movie and I will watch it.
