What Happened to America?

I never fully understood the concept of “Black Friday” which is the following day of Thanksgiving, the day which we are thankful for the world we live in today and the food at the table. Thanksgiving is the day which we are supposed to express gratitude and celebrate the Pilgrims who created this certain holiday. Thanksgiving is supposed to be the day of family, food and be grateful for the life you live. And the very next day, we are kicking and screaming at each other for cheap and inexpensive products at stores across the world. Malls, outlets, and boutiques reduce their high rocketing prices to record low prices which you will probably never see again until next Black Friday, next year.

Black Friday has even led to deaths. Many get hurt due to the overwhelming commotion, and people being rude to each other. Fights occur every year while waiting in lines and racing to t.v.s and other technology products. We go from being thankful, to hating each other for taking one another’s presents or products. People raid the stores like it’s the food cabinet of their own house which they’ve never eaten before. Stores become trashed, and messy, leaving it hard for consumers to find what they want. Customers become irritated, angry, frustrated as the night hours go on, since each store does not open until 12 A.M. of following day after Thanksgiving. Many Americans shop for hours on end, a majority getting their entire shopping list done and out of the way.

It’s insane to think this is how our country, America has transformed into. Just this whole entire “Black Friday” concept is crazy weird for me. It makes absolutely no sense to have a holiday which we are supposed to be appreciative of the life God has given us, yet the next day we are causing hostilities, violence, and conflicts across the world just to get a good deal on present for the upcoming holidays. If only everyone had the same mindset on Black Friday, with calm and respectful customers then the amount of deaths and fights would be limited. I never fully understood it and I probably never will. Am I the only one?
