For me, and I’m sure many others, every season starts with high expectations for all of the fun things available to do during that particular season. Those expectations lead to my disappointment when the season is over and I haven’t done any of the things that I wanted to do.
In the spring and summer, I always expect to swim in the pool, go to the beach and go boating and tubing. I get busy or lazy and end up not doing much of anything of those things. In the fall I love the thought of hayrides and Halloween related events but with school just beginning, I get too caught up in that. In the Winter I love skiing, snowmobiling and ice skating, but again I find myself unable to find the time to go out and do those things, the equipment and cold weather making it even more undesirable. At the end of each season I’m filled with the regret of not fulfilling the season’s potential.
This winter is going just the same. I don’t how it happened but it is already nearing the end of January. Just like last winter, I’ve yet to ski, snowmobile or skate. This year seems particularly important for me to do these things since in the coming year, I’ll be away at college and where I definitely won’t have the time or equipment to do those things. If last winter was any indication of how this winter will be, spring will start in March. I’ve decided to make it my goal to appreciate and use what’s left of my winter.
