Walking through the halls,
Looking at the people,
Knowing one day soon
I will no longer walk
Among them, is
terrifying.
The day is upon us,
Those ready to leave.
We have been preparing
For this for years, knowing
We’d have to go, but it’s
terrifying.
We have been sheltered
From the outside world,
Not fully comprehending
What it’s really like;
How cruel it can be and it’s
terrifying.
Before this year,
I’ve barely thought about
The end, just thinking that
It is years away. Except it
Is here and now and
terrifying.
Now it’s all I can think
About. There is no more
Hiding, no more
Procrastinating, no more
Ignoring the facts and it’s
terrifying.
When we walk across that
Stage, that summer night,
We will be leaving behind
Some of the best years of
Our lives, and it’s
terrifying.
It is terrifying to
Think about, terrifying
to leave, terrifying knowing
things are only going to get
harder from here. It’s
terrifying.
