These past four years were definitely not anything that I expected. I mean, it’s not like I had any clue of what they were going to be like when I first entered high-school, but there were a few things that definitely caught me off guard. Like who I was going to hang out with, or how much homework there really was going to be, or what I was truly capable of. Sometimes it was a nice surprise, but other times it was a complete blindside. But, for the most part, I have to say that I have had some of the best years of my life in this school. This school has brought me experiences that I will never forget, and some that I hope to forget. This school has also brought me a few life-long friends, a few tolerable friends, and a few people I never hope I’ll ever see again.
I guess if I have to give advice, then the only advice that I will give to the underclassman is to get involved in extra-curricular activities. I decided to do Soccer for the first two years here, and while I had a great time, what I really enjoyed the most was Drama Club. Drama has been such a fun and entertaining activity to do and I met a few great/annoying people that I don’t think I will ever be able to get rid of. I’ve performed in roles that I didn’t even think I could pull off and gone places and competed in festivals that I had never heard of before. It helped bring me out of my comfort zone, and that is what most extra-curricular activities will do for you. All one has to do is join a team, or a club, and I guarantee them that they will have fun at some point along the way.
I want to end by just saying thank-you, to all of you. Whether we have interacted personally or not, most of you have either affected me directly or indirectly at some point over the past four years. You helped shape who I am today and who I aspire to be. I want to thank the few in here who have put up with me, and those that I have put up with. To my friends in the room, I want to thank-you personally for what you have done for me, whether you realize what you did or not. You guys are amazing and I hope you guys lead amazing lives. I also want to thank all the teachers for getting me and the rest of us to this point, the point of no return for almost all of us. Some of my best years of my life may have happened here, but I am ready to move on, try new things, and meet new people, and I hope you all want to do the same. So, I will end my speech with one of my favorite quotes from Robert Frost: “In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on”. Thank-you everyone and I wish you all the best.
