Adventure Time Equals Awesome

If you know nothing about “Adventure Time” prepare for your mind to be blown. The basic setting of the show is in a post-apocalyptic world in the land of Ooo,with the two main characters Finn, the last human on Earth and his best friend and adoptive brother a dog named Jake with magical powers to shapeshift and grow and shrink when ever he feels like it. They are heroes for hire free of charge and they tend to beat up Ice King a lot. Ice King is a lonely misunderstood man he just wants to be loved by everyone but people misunderstand him and he ends up getting punched a lot because of it. He has one of the saddest backstories that I’ve ever seen. His real name was Simon Petrikov he had a fiance named Betty and had a lot of things going for him, but he found this crown and when he started to wear it the crown slowly made him insane and scared his love and princess Betty away. Now he searches the land of Ooo for real princesses. He has a bestfriend named Gunter who is a penguin and probably the most evil being in existence but he hides behind his cuteness.

Another character is Princess Bubblegum shes not your regular helpless and girly  princess shes the complete opposite. Shes a brilliant scientist with a pet rat name science. and shes also the ruler of all the candy people in the Candy Kingdom. The show is a mix of music, violence, adventure and action. Most of the Music come from Finn,Jake and Marceline the Vampire Queen shes like the hipster of the show with her awesome wardrobe. As a vampire she eats shades of red;not just blood. She also has an amazing singing voice and is a very gifted instrumentalist that play guitar and piano. Then theres Flame Princess whose Finn’s girlfriend its best not to make her mad because she get flaming crazy and can burn the whole town down. Shes supposed to be evil but shes super nice unless you make her angry. In order for Finn to hug her he has to wrap himself into a foil burrito so she doesn’t kill him,but he doesn’t mind. Finn also has really amazing  luscious locks that he keeps hidden under his hat everytime he takes his hat off everyone freaks out in amazement. One episode he cut it all off and I thought I was going to cry. Then there is this extremely terrifying and evil being named the Lich he takes scarey in a kids show to a whole new level since Courage the Cowardly Dog. He goes around killing people and at one point he was a snail that you could see in almost every episode so its like he was watching the whole time. Adventure Time has to be the best kids show ever invented in forever. It teaches life lessons, has great songs and there never a dual episode. So whenever you have free time you should definitely check it out I doubt you’ll regret it.

Interesting piece of work, that’s for sure. I never thought of Adventure Time as anything more than a silly cartoon played on the t.v. But after reading your piece, I got to thinking that it’s more of a future based cartoon that may mean more than the characters in it. I definitely plan to watch at least one episode, now that I know more about the characters and background story. I never really thought of cartoon shows as having so much behind them, worth a shot at watching!

I will openly admit that I love Adventure Time. It’s a really creative show with an original atmosphere unlike anything else on T.V. At first I dismissed it as another lame kids show, but was drawn in while my little sister was watching it. Now I see it for what it is, a bizarre and entertaining show, full of morals, that anyone can enjoy. It reminds me of some the older cartoon network shows that were equally bizarre. I can never get through an episode without reminiscing about some of my childhood favourites like Samurai Jack, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Dexter’s Lab, and Codename Kids Next Door. Perhaps this is why I’m drawn to it, it allows me to recapture a small part of my childhood that I’m often too busy to recall. Your piece really got me thinking, but it would be greatly improved by some grammatical revisions.
