With new technological advances comes with many risks. When millions of people around the country have what is perceived to be the “world” at their fingertips, it is bound to spark issues. People seem to neglect the fact that technology can be dangerous, and while it is a beneficial tool in most cases, it can control your life if you let it. Now that the majority of the population has smart phones, more and more people can be seen drawing all of their attention to these devices. Everywhere you go there are countless people using it for social media or gaming, and are simply oblivious to their surroundings. They ignore the people around them to engage with other people, and avoid what they’re encountering to see what others are up to. It’s really sad to see so many people wasting their lives away, and precious time with loved ones because they think their phone is more important. Living this way is bound to destroy relationships and can hamper health. After a while people will get so used to typing and texting their friends, that they will lose their social skills and won’t know how to carry out a conversation without the use of emojis.
Children are too busy trying to get the highest score on popular games rather than going to play outside and boost their imagination and social skills. By neglecting to play outside they are missing out on a period in their life that is essential for growth. By not enjoying the outdoors it can potentially harm their creativity and can make them lazy. If they don’t have to go outside and make their own fun, they won’t know how to do things for themselves which will in turn have a negative effect on creativity. It is going to be sad when this next generation of children grows up, because they will have limited social skills and an absence of memories. When they reflect on their life they are going to be like, “hey remember that time when I got the high score on angry birds? That was awesome!” There needs to be a way of maintaining a balance between these two things to protect the well being of future generations.
Technology is a scary thing, and has advanced rapidly since I was younger. I can’t imagine what “life” will be like in the future. There will probably be robots that will do everything for us and we won’t even have to go to work. If all of the laptops, smart phones, televisions were to be taken away, the majority of the population wouldn’t be able to function. I think it is really sad to see people wasting their time on social media instead of appreciating the outdoors. I hope things turn around or we are all in for a rude awakening.

I think you are 100% right. I can’t imagin what life is going to be like either in the future. Its scary. Even though I love my smartphone, I wish I didn’t.
This couldn’t be more true. It’s frustrating to see how people’s worlds are starting to revolve around their smartphone. While people may think they’re being more social and learning from spending so much time “with” their friends on Facebook and Twitter, like you said they aren’t actually gaining any experience from typing back and forth to one another. Having an argument with someone through text messages does not at all equate to an argument in real life.
I think you are right I am glued to my phone all the time. It seems like sometimes my phone is the only thing that matters. It’s sometimes is frustrating to me.
It really is sad seeing people put their lives towards a magic screen that lets them do almost anything. Many people can relate to the text and games instead of spending their lives elsewhere. It’s sad that their trying for high scores on games rather than trying high scores for school. I can relate and it’s sad. The worst part is that it’s probably not going to change. The further in the future we go the more we’re going to rely on technology. Good job writing this piece.
I agree a lot with this post technology is ruining childhood because every wants to be scrolling down new feeds and timelines rather than playing out side and enjoying the out doors and even if they are outdoors most of them still happen have to be on something dealing with technology.
I think this post makes a lot of sense and I can see it happening with my own family members. They won’t even pay attention to us, and when we say something while they’re looking at their phone, we have to repeat ourselves several times. It’s ridiculous. It is true that people are missing out on the real world and I think it’s more true that without this technology, people would not have a clue what to do with themselves.
