When it comes to handing in papers, getting a job done, or picking up your date, being late is not considered “good”. But does late get too much hate? Can you be tardy to the party? Are you able to win it at the very last minute? Well, it in certain cases sure. I’m going to explain a couple of scenarios where being late can be considered good, by my standards anyway.
There’s a party going down, there’s illegal narcotics everywhere and the people are completely out of their normal state of mind. You accidentally forgot to start your laundry for your big day at the office tomorrow, as well as feed your favorite kitten, Mittens. You decide to start the laundry and feed Mittens before heading to the party. This takes approximately 20 minutes, depending on how fast you are at loading laundry into your washing machine. So your laundry’s getting laundrified, and your kitten is all set on food. Time to head out to the party! You get in your mother’s car, turn the radio on to some real gangster beats, and start driving the speed limit down your road. You pull up to the road where the party is held at and the cops are everywhere! You instantly feel a sense of relief that you had to do your laundry and feed your cat before going to the party, or else you would have faced some time in the big house! That is considered “good late”.
Here’s another scenario: You’re waking up from a long rest, possibly too long! You realize you have slept in an hour and you realize that you are late for school! But before you start rushing, you stop and think: “What class am I missing right now? English!” You suddenly feel a sense of relief and take as long as you want in the shower, getting ready, and even eat breakfast you want. You consider this a good thing because you do not enjoy English! You may need it to graduate, but you’re totally going to pass, no doubt in your mind! You happen to be failing with a good “7” but that is the least of your worries, you’re just happy you are late. This is considered a “Good/Bad Late”. You enjoy the fact that you are late, but it has negative side effects.
Now there’s more negatives than positives when it comes to being late. Being late is not a lifestyle to live by and you should learn right away that you will never get anywhere when always being late. Turn your papers in on time, complete essays within the deadline, and do your homework before the test so it actually benefits you. There’s no sense in doing the homework after the test since it was meant to help you the test that you already took! Being late causes nothing but trouble, unless it involves avoiding a dire situation but that’s besides the point. People, including myself, need to start showing some dedication to the things that are important to them, mainly schoolwork. It is important to know that in college you will not get the same slack as you did in high school. They don’t care if you didn’t do the work, they are not going to hunt you down to get the work, they could care less if you pass or fail! Be smart, get stuff done on time and stop ignoring all the work until the last minute.

I agree with the post in more ways than one. It almost describes my entire life. Never was I late for school, I either showed up or I didn’t. But work, that’s another story. I’m always 5-10 minutes late because I know that the transition from first shift to second is so hectic and I’d rather not be in the middle of that because it’s just too overwhelming. And my homework, I don’t remember the last time that was on time. Oops.
