How do you know when you’ve had too much coffee? Well, there are many tell-tale signs that you might have had one cup too many. Maybe you realize you had too much coffee because you’re currently holding your sixth cup at 10 am and the jitters are making you spill it everywhere. Or maybe you don’t even remember what cup you’re on. Maybe its because you’re talking one million words per minute and everyone you speak to has asked you to slow down and repeat yourself. Or maybe its because you just bought a brand new three pound bag of hazelnut coffee two days ago and you’re putting all of your efforts into getting the last few coffee grinds out of the bottom of the bag.
Maybe drinking too much coffee per day isn’t your concern. It could be your addiction to coffee that you’re worried about. If you’re excited to go to bed just so you can wake up and have your first cup of coffee for the day, you’re probably addicted. Or, if the employees at your favorite coffee shop recognize your car and have your coffee ready before you even get to the drive-thru window to tell them what you want, then you probably have a serious problem. Another sign that you might just be addicted is that when you have a choice of spending your last three dollars on food because you’re actually really hungry, you spend it on coffee. Or maybe you recently got a gift card for Dunkin’ Donuts from a family member during the holidays. Chances are, if you went through all the money on the gift card within three days, you have a problem.

The piece points out some tell tale signs that a person may be addicted to coffee, but does not discuss if someone is in denial about being addicted to coffee. Is it possible for someone to also not know that they have an addition to coffee? Could coffee be helping them in some way (helping with headaches, fatigue, ect)?
