History of the Beatles

The phenomenon band of the 1960’s from England was something everyone was talking about. The Beatles were a British boy band that became widely popular in the United States. The Beatles actually built their popularity by performing in clubs in Liverpool and Hamburg England.  The band itself consisted of 4 members; John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison. One of the reasons this band was so successful was because of their direct connections to the United Kingdom. The band moved to the United States to create more of a successful career for themselves. The UK could not offer them all the same musical success that the United States could offer them. Of course many of their albums were successful, and among those albums was ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ The album included hits such as ‘With a Little Help From my Friends’, and ‘Lucy in the sky with diamonds.’ It was one of the first released records that the Beatles wrote.

The Beatles worked together to blend their voices, as well as instrumental talents, and wrote great songs that appealed to all sorts of different people. The Beatles wrote music that was very unique and different for their time period. I think this was one of the reasons that they were this insanely popular. The people wanted something different, they were tired of the same old music, and when the Beatles came to the United States they brought something different to the table. The songs the Beatles wrote did have meaning, but some of them did not, they were just about random crazy things, which is something that still sets them aside from the other bands of their time.

The Beatles seemed to be the first band that people really were obsessed with, and going crazy for. When the Beatles came to the United States and got off the plane, there was thousands of screaming girls around them screaming their names and praying that a band member would do so much as to look at them. This movement was referred to as the ‘British Invasion’ it was a big deal to many Americans that the first British band worked their way into the United States. It was the beginning of a revolution of British rock bands having a place in the heart of the Americans. It was a heartbreaking situation to the United States as well as the United Kingdom when the Beatles broke up and released their last album ‘Let it Be.’ in the year 1970. After that, individual members were releasing songs on their own, not as a whole group.

The Beatles were so great because of their unique style, their individuality, and their ability to bring a new form of music to the table. The Beatles were a band that so many people loved because of their ability to write songs that were not the same old style that everyone was used to. The Beatles truly possessed a unique, rare talent for their time period.

Holy Cow thats a lot of information! You really went into full depth with this. I feel like when you were saying in the end about their ‘unique style’ and their ‘individuality’ would be like the original hipsters XD (in a good way, not in a sassy way). Do you know all of their songs and did they make music videos back then or did they not have the technology back then to do that (I literally know nothing about the beatles, just about what you wrote about here). It was very interesting 🙂

Well Jcutliffe15, I do know most of their songs. Some of them are much less popular, and heard than others. They didn’t have music videos back then, because it was much too early in time to have the right technology to create one. Their music wasn’t on CD’s, it was on actual old fashioned records. Thanks 🙂
