Criminal Minds: Finishing School by Max Allan Collins is a book that is based off from the still running television show series called Criminal Minds. For anyone who has seen and enjoyed the television series, Criminal Minds, they will also love the books. The book and the show both have many detailed things in it. It’s always something new happening on both the show. Nothing is never repeated, so it’s always exciting to watch. Some of the books follow the episodes that already have been made, while others are completely different from what has happened on the show. It’s always new and exciting, you never know what’s going to happen, on both the book and show. Basically crimes that are similar is investigated by this group of FBI called the behavioral analysis unit. They technically are a group of people who look into the minds of criminals to try and solve the case’s they get.
This book individually is about three bodies of young girls who were found in Minnesota, Bemidji, in the woods. The regular police are unable to identify the victims because of some sort of poisoning. That’s when the Behavior Analysis Unit, also known as the BAU, is called in to solve the mystery of who the girls are, who the killer was, and how the girls were murdered. They end up finding more similar killings that happened like this, leading them to the killer. This book I would only recommend to young adults who can handle the blood and dead bodies. Viewer discretion is advised.
This book has 288 pages, so it’s kind of a short read if you will. This book was published by Signet on the fourth of November in 2008. The genre categories this book is in is; mystery, crime, thriller, suspense, drama, and crime fiction. Every here and there, there are hints of humor as well. I’d recommend this to people who are interested in crime, mystery, thrillers, and fans of criminal minds. This book can be dark, but also a very good one. It makes your heart beat jump every once in a while, and it makes you want to keep reading. It’s interesting how good this book and the series is and how popular it had become over time. Anyways this book and the television show is very interesting and new. The ways the people are murdered and the murders themselves are very unique. So it’s not like what you find everyday in the life of crime. These crimes are very well out together, and the show and book altogether is very exciting.
The characters on the show and book are also unique and quickly likeable. The main agents that you will most likely always see on the show and in the book are; Doctor Spencer Reid, Derek Morgan, Aaron Hotchner, David Rossi, JJ, and Penelope Garcia. There have been characters who are no longer on the show, that used to be reoccurring characters such as; Emily Prentiss, Elle Greenaway, Alex Blake, Jason Gideon, and Ashley Seaver. Personally my favorite character out of everyone on the whole entire show is Doctor Spencer Reid. He’s very interesting and is very smart. I cannot explain it but, he is unique in his own way and always kind of keeps you on the edge of your seat as he explains things, being as smart as he is; he knows quite a lot of everything.
