Bacon Wrapped Chicken

Ingredients

  • 1 medium sized chicken breast
  • 5 bacon slices
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 400°. Take the chicken breast and rinse thoroughly. Take a knife and cut off the excess fat of the breast. Then place clear plastic crap over the meat and pound it with a rolling pin until it flattens. Set aside.

Get a cookie sheet and spread the bacon so 3 pieces lay flat next to each other. Take the other two pieces and lay them horizontally so it makes a cross. Take the cleaned chicken breast and place it in the center of the bacon.

In a small bowl, combine a 1/4 cup of cream cheese, 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning, and 1/2 a teaspoon of garlic salt. Mix together and rub all over the top of chicken breast.

Almost done! Take 1/4 cup of the cheddar cheese and sprinkle all over the cream cheese mixture. 1/4 cup is just a guideline, you can put more or less if you prefer.

Raw and ready to go in the oven. After all ingredients are smothered on top of the chicken, fold the bottom pieces of bacon around the chicken. Then, do the top pieces. This should be done as tight as possible so all the juices stay inside. Put into the oven at 400° for a total of 45 minutes but flipping over half way through (22:50).

Serve hot and enjoy! This was a favorite of my family.

This seems like it would be so yummy! Is there any way to quicken the process, depending how much time you have to prepare the meal?

Iris is right this looks soo yummy! But does the bacon have to wrapped a certain way, or can it be wrapped whatever way you want to be?

To go along with Iris, could you precook the bacon and do it that way so it is speedy?

Iris: It was very yummy!! To quicken the process, you could increase the heat of the oven but that would make the chicken more dry so I do not recommend it.
Vannessa: The bacon can be wrapped anyway at all! Make it to your desire and load on the bacon if you would like 🙂
Kayla: You could precook the bacon, but that would be very difficult to wrap the chicken. The bacon would become hard and crunchy making it very difficult to wrap correctly.

This looks wonderful. However, I am not a big fan of bacon, is there another meat that I could wrap my chicken in and have it come out just as good?

What about using pre cooked bacon that you just zap in the microwave to speed the process up?
