DIY: Sharpie Coffee Mug Design

Step One:
Step 1: Gather all materials! You need a coffee mug (white works best), some sharpies (any color you want), a piece of paper to make a stencil, and a pencil.
Step 2: Draw out your stencil! You can draw anything you want, I chose to use the first letter of my name.

Step 3: Cut out your stencil! After you cut your stencil out, you should tape it to the mug. I used double sided tape so it pop up as much, but regular tape will work just as well.

Step 4: Put some color on it! This is the fun part! Take as many or as little colored sharpies as you would like and make a design on the outside of your stencil. I used about 7 different colors, and made polka dots! But stripes of full color would look cool too!

Step 5: Take the stencil off! After you've finished decorating your mug you have to take the stencil off. It's because we made the stencils out of paper and they would burn in the oven.

Step 8: Take your new mug out of the oven! Once you take the mug out let it set and cool! To keep the sharpie on for longer avoid putting your mug in the dishwasher, you should hand wash it!

Should you place the mug on a pan before placing it in the oven or could you bake it in the oven without being on anything, because this seems very interesting and perhaps fun to do.
