Oak Hill vs. St. Doms

On Monday, January 11th, 2016, Oak Hill played St. Doms in basketball. This was a must win game for us. We were on a losing streak, and it needed to end. We cam out strong the first half. We played excellent defense, and ran our offense well. St. Doms stayed in a 2-3 zone the entire game. We ran our triangle offense, and our 2- low offense against them, and it worked out very well. We passed the ball, and didn’t hold it and give the defense time to recover. Another big thing that helped us win this game was we didn’t turn the ball over. We usually have 15+ turnovers a game! That didn’t happen last night, we only had 8. We all worked together, and played as a team. That was the difference between the past few games we’ve played. Another thing we did well was we didn’t foul. That was another game changer. We didn’t let them score points with the clock not running. We kept our heads up, and when things didn’t go our way, we kept with it and never gave up. We hustled after loose balls, and played with heart. We played smart, and together and we came out with a win.

Though we did have a really good game, we still had some things to learn from. At the beginning of the game, instead of trying to shoot threes, step in and take some two’s until you’re legs are warmed up. Another thing we need to learn is where we are suppose to be in the zone depending on where the ball is. They’re small things, but even these little things matter. The top two scorers for this game were BMulherin17 with 14 points, and SNoel16 with 11 points.

I was very proud of how we came together and played as a team. We ran our offense and made smart passes, and we came out on top. At the beginning of the season our shots weren’t falling, so most of our games, were low scoring games. Now that the season has progressed, our shooting is a lot better, and more of our shots are going in. Now instead of scoring in the high twenties in games, we’re scoring in the forties or higher. We aren’t giving up on defense, and we’re hustling after the ball, and if we keep this up, I think the rest of our season will be a battle til the end. We have some tough games coming up, but we’re ready for battle.
