Anything that can be deep fried can also be put in the oven and be made so much healthier. One of the best ways to lower fat consumption is to switch deep frying to oven baking. If you prefer to eat deep fried foods, it is better to eat them in smaller portions with other healthier foods.

Restaurants use oils to make their french fries but use different types of oils because it is cheaper and makes the food last longer. Trans fats are responsible for 1 in 5 heart attacks in the United States. It causes heart attacks, strokes, obesity, and chronic diseases such as diabetes. The oils used in deep frying foods is bad for the heart, increasing your risk of a heart attack. French fries and onion rings have little health benefits as it is so it makes it so much worse when they are deep fried. Another reason why fried foods are not good is because of the calories. When you are frying food, the oil is at a very high temperature. Also, oil is a saturated fat which is high in calories. One piece of deep fried chicken is equal to over 140 calories. While baked chicken is less than 60 calories. As you can see, baking foods is a much better way to cut the calories than frying them.

If you cut potatoes and bake them in the oven, it does not have all that oil, does not put you at risk for diseases and would provide better health benefits. Also, baking requires little to no oil. When you deep fry foods, the breading is absorbing the oil and that’s what makes it crunchy. Obviously, there are healthier ways to eat rather than eating french fries or onion rings but it is always good to know how to make something a little more healthy. Although most people do not have a deep fryer at home, it is less common for them to eat fried food; unless of course they buy take out every night. Most restaurants do not use the healthier choice of oil, they usually buy the cheapest, which is usually the worst.
