Jamie Collins up and coming star for the New England Patriots

Jamie Collins is a force to be reckon with for the New England Patriots. He has emerged as one of the best linebackers in the game. His insane athletic ability helped him to be in the top 10 for solo tackles in the 2014 season. His athletic ability emerged as a standout quarterback and outside linebacker for his high school team and his very impressive track and field skills. He was able to earn 2 first place and 2 second place trophies in a state track meet while he was in high school.

Collins was drafted in the second round of the 2013 draft as the 52nd overall pick. He set a combine record over all positions in the broad jump at 11’7”. In his first season with them he was mainly a special teams player. Then when playing the colts on January 11th he had a breakout game for himself 6 tackles a sack and an interception. This was what lead him to his breakout season in 2014.

In Jamie Collins 2014 season he was in the top 10 for tackles and helped to lead the patriots defense to a Superbowl victory over the Seattle Seahawks. He had a combined total of 116 tackles on the season.

In his 3rd season he has only played a total of 12 games however he has still recorded a combined 89 tackles this far. Not only has he had a good season, he made what could have been the most athletic play of his life. When playing the colts he leaped over the long snapper to block the extra point of Adam Vinatieri. After this play everyone knew who he was. He has really made a name for himself in the NFL. He was also elected to the 2015 pro bowl.   

Coming out of college he was definitely underrated player but the Patriots have really helped to transform into a great player. This season he was diagnosed with an illness that was undisclosed, this caused him to miss 4 weeks this season. Upon his return he had an 8 tackle performance along with the forced fumble. The ended in a loss however but Collins still had a great return and didn’t skip a beat out there on the field. In his second game pick he had a 14 yard touchdown run after he forced a fumble against the New York Jets. Jamie Collins is really a force to be reckon with on the field and will continue to grow and get better as this is only his third year in the league.
