Luke Kuechly went to Boston College where he was named an All American twice while playing there. He was drafted 9th overall in the 2012 draft. He lead the NFL in tackles his rookie year and was named the defensive rookie of the year. Then the next season he won defensive player of the year. Just two years into his career has already had some of the greatest honors you can get. He was the youngest player to win defensive player of the year.

As a freshmen in college he was second in the nation for tackles with 158 combined tackles. He lead all the freshmen from the outside linebacker position. However in his sophomore year he switched to middle linebacker where he lead the nation in tackles with a combined 183 tackles. Onto his 3rd year at BC he lead the nation for the second year in a row with 191 combined tackles. In only three years he sat the record for the acc with 532 tackles in a college career.

He was 9th overall pick in the draft by the Carolina Panthers. At the combine he stunned a lot of people with his versatility, he was able to play outside and inside linebacker while also being able to cover receivers. Having the ability he has played part in him being drafted so early in the first round. He started his career at outside linebacker but then moved to inside due to injury and then remained there because of his performance there. He lead the NFL in tackles two out of his first three seasons.

In 2015 he signed a 5 year 62 million dollar contract making him the highest paid middle linebacker. He has a combined 591 tackles over his career in 4 seasons and counting throughout the playoffs. Luke kuechly is one of the best defensive players in the league. He is constantly being talked about for defensive player of the year. He is a real force to be reckon with and has really improved the panthers defense to one of the top defensive teams in the league.
