One Of The Greats

This 6’5”, 230 pound man may have been the greatest creation of all time to ever play football. His command and field presence is undeniably the best ever seen in the NFL. Completing 18 seasons in the NFL with only two teams clarifies his import role he played with each. He came from a tradition of quarterbacks, his father Archie Manning, younger brother Eli Manning (Giants QB), and Cooper Manning who was sidelined from the game for life, due to a threatening injury. He had big shoes to fill, and ones constantly needing to be filled. His career statistics show how he will be one of the greats to ever play.

Peyton Manning holds 21 major NFL records, dismantling his competition. With 539 career touchdowns he plowed the way to a future Hall Of Fame 1st round ballot. Even then, he still has 20 more records he can brag to Eli about. On top of his career touchdowns he owns 71,940 passing yards, which is most in NFL history. 53 is the number to beat, well actually 18 was (Peyton Manning) but people had too much trouble with that. He scored 53 times in one seasons, and also threw for 5,477 yards in a solo season which once again is more NFL records. These statistics are very impressive but don’t end yet. He is credited with most wins (200), most games throwing for 300+ yards (93), most passing touchdowns in a single game (7), most games with a perfect passer rating (5), most games with 80% passing (19), and honestly the list just keeps continuing. He has set almost every major record.

With the records in over 21 categories Peyton holds almost all quarterbacks in the palm of his hand. He is a guaranteed Hall Of Famer and everyone would agree. There are quarterbacks who don’t hold half if any the amount of stats and records Peyton does and they are Hall Of Famers. No doubt Peyton will soon be there, and at the top. When we think of NFL greats (quarterbacks) we think of Drew Bledsoe, Joe Montana, Dan Marino, and even the current player, Tom Brady. Now Peyton will forever be inscribed within these names, finding himself somewhere near the top. His legacy he has left behind is second to none. Playing against Tom Brady and beating him in the playoffs justs adds to his greatness. The NFL has been changed forever, and will never be the same without him. His shoes may never be filled but good luck to whoever tries. Peyton may be gone from the NFL, but will never be forgotten, even by the Patriot fans.
