I chose to stop doing decades of music since the best music pretty much stopped in the 80’s. Now, to change things up, I’m just going to talk about what kind of music I’m into. Let’s start off with genres.
I’m not very picky, I listen to a little bit of everything. Some rap, which only really consists of Eminem, rock, pop, country. I’ve even listened to Japanese songs. I don’t understand what they’re saying without subtitles, but it sounds really nice.
Since I grew up with parents who were teenagers in the 80’s, my favorite type of music is rock. There’s Styx, Journey, Guns N’ Roses, Queen, etc. Although I also love heavy metal bands like Disturbed, Shinedown, and Five Finger Death Punch, who happens to be my second favorite band. I listen to this playlist the most when I’m in a bad mood, or when I have a lot of energy and I just feel like rockin’ out. Most people will probably judge me for this, but my all time favorite band is Nickelback. I don’t have a favorite song by them because I love so many of them. A efw of my top ones though include “Burn It To The Ground,” “Someday,” “Edge of a Revolution,” and “Never Gonna Be Alone.” I fell in love with them when I was 8 and I found their album “All The Right Reasons” on a shelf at my house. For my 16th birthday in November 2014, my mom was able to get me tickets to their concert at the Bangor Waterfront. The date was set for August 21st 2015. Two months before I was supposed to go, they had cancelled because Chad Kroeger had to have vocal cord surgery. I was so, so disappointed since it was going to be my first concert ever and they very rarely come to Maine. Now I have to wait until 2017 for them to come back to the U.S. and I don’t even know if they’ll be coming to Maine again.
I guess Maroon 5, Michael Jackson, and Bruno Mars hold the top three positions for most songs on my pop playlist. I like a lot of different songs from many different artists though. Fallout Boy and Panic! At The Disco are pretty great as well. I listen to this playlist randomly. I don’t have to be in a certain mood, but this kind of music does make me want to clean stuff for some reason. Like I’ll just start picking up my room for no reason. It’s weird.
Country I listen to when I’m stressed, feeling calm and relaxed, or happy. It just makes me feel like I’m on vacation and I have no worries in the world. My favorite country artist is Toby Keith by far, but there’s also Rodney Atkins, and the Zac Brown Band that have some of the best songs to chill out to.
Overall, I can’t live without music. I never go a day without listening to it. What I listen to either depends on what mood I’m in or what’s playing on the radio. We usually stick to 107.5 Frank FM or 105.1 TOS. We’ll listen to 97.9 or 94.9 here and there too, but they repeat songs to the point where they’re not fun to listen to anymore.
