One of my biggest passions in my life is weight lifting. I have been lifting weights for 4 or 5 years now, and it has become a big part of my life. At first, the reason I began lifting was to get better at football, and that is how I got the ability to start. For the 7th and 8th grade football team, we were allowed to go downstairs to the high school weight room over the summer to help us prepare for our upcoming season. Before I started lifting my world was a lot different than it is now. I used to not do much at all over the summer, sleep until like 11:00 every single day, and just watch TV. Now, over my summer I get up early, do something productive, and start my day right. Lifting has helped me gain confidence that I did not have before I started lifting, and it has helped me to achieve some of my goals, such as start on a state championship football team, and become a captain and All-Conference player my senior year in football.
Ever since I started lifting though, there have been some road blocks that have caused me to second-guess and question my hobby. It can be hard to wake up at 5:00 in the morning, especially before school, or during a football season, or over the summer when I stayed up late all night. It can be very difficult at times to continue to lift, because I often times get very sore, or sometimes injured which can make it very difficult to lift. At first, the most difficult things I found about lifting were getting myself in the right mindset to give my maximum effort at 5:30 in the morning, and continuing to put myself in that mindset day in and day out.
Overall, I am glad that it is a hobby I began back then, because it has helped to shape my life today, and make it better, as it allows me to achieve goals that I set and continue to better myself as a person.
