Well, this was a great start to my senior year.
It was a Sunday morning, and I had to be at work for 9am. I live in Sabattus and work in Lisbon Falls, so in order to be ten minutes early for my shift I need to leave thirty minutes before my shift starts. But that Sunday morning, I wasn’t thinking straight. I woke up at 8:15 and for some reason, I had it in my head that it only took fifteen minutes to get to work, so I was fine. I took my time getting ready and by the time that I realized that I had made a mistake on my timing, it was too late. I was already going to be late for work. I quickly made myself an English muffin with peanut butter and ran out the door.
I started to drive and turned off from my road. Shortly after turning onto Marsh Rd, there is a curve in the road. I thought that I needed to eat my breakfast before getting to work so that I didn’t take up part of my shift eating, so I reached into the passenger seat to grab half of my English muffin. But the peanut butter was really melty and started dripping on the passenger seat. After that, I looked up, screamed, and in a split second the airbags had deployed.
The first thing I did was get out of my car by squeezing out of my door because it wouldn’t open all the way due to the damage. I looked at my car and couldn’t believe that this had really just happened to me. “Is this all a dream?”, I thought. My car was completely totaled, but in the moment I was just glad that I didn’t feel or appear to be hurt. But I had no idea how long the remainder of the day was going to be. I called my boyfriend and my dad and told them that I had gotten into an accident but that I was fine, and my dad called the police. Two police cars came, along with a firetruck and an ambulance. By the time the emergency personnel had gotten to the scene, my adrenaline had worn off and my foot was hurting quite a bit. The paramedics checked me out to make sure that I hadn’t gotten a concussion and checked out the rest of my body briefly before letting my dad know that he should take me to the hospital to get checked out. My dad brought my boyfriend and I to the emergency room on a Sunday morning, and we had to have spent about three or fours hours in the hospital just for me to get an x-ray and have a nurse diagnose my injury before putting me into a splint. I was going to be out of sports for 4-6 weeks, and double sessions started the next morning.
All of this trouble, just because I made one bad time management decision. And eating my breakfast definitely wasn’t worth getting into an accident and breaking my foot. I’m just glad that I learned by getting just a broken foot and not anything else.

I remember this day. I was in my house when I heard all the emergency vehicles go by my house. This is very descriptive. Did you know why you over looked the time?
Car accidents are scary, for never being in one you really showed me an understanding for how you felt and what it felt like. This was really well written and made my stomach drop, I’m thankful that it was only a broken foot.
This is very well written. From me never being in a car accident you got the picture in my head about what it would be like and feel like. It is a very bad thing and I’m glad there wasn´t any other injuries.
