The biggest mistake I made was switching schools. At my old school, things were pretty bad, but things at Oak hill are somewhat bad as well, just in different ways. With this school, teachers don’t teach or help, students do drugs, and barely anyone does their work. Personally, I find it harder to do my work based on the environment of certain classrooms.
I’ve been behind since I switched to this school. When I came here, I had to do work that I was not even in this school for. I’ve tried to catch myself up but it’s hard when teachers don’t offer the help that’s needed. I’ve also noticed other students having this problem as well. We all know that everyone works and learns differently, but some teachers do not take that into consideration. If you can not learn the way they teach, some will not change the way they teach to help those students who learn differently.
After being in this school for a month or so, I learned that it was blatantly clear of how many people do, or did drugs. Walking through the halls, there’s always conversations about it. People have even personally offered to sell me some. Those names will not be revealed, nor will the drug offered. It seems to be a daily issue that no one is doing anything about.
My first impression of the students at this establishment were the fact that most of them don’t care about their work, and clearly their future. I’ve participated in conversations with others, and how they tell me that they don’t care about this school, the teachers, and the work passed out to them.
Personally, it’s overall a good school. Like every school, there’s going to be downsides to it. With some schools, you’re going to have more opportunities after graduation than others. At my old school, I would have had a lot more opportunities than at this new school. The only thing we can do is learn, and make the best out of mistakes.

I understand where you’re coming from for sure, the students overall seem to have a general lack of pride in their education, and drug use is out in the open. I’ve been here for so long that perhaps I’ve been desensitized, but I never thought it was that out of the ordinary for a school to be like that. While it’s true that some teachers don’t actually “teach” and kind of just expect you to get things right on your own, I don’t think a majority of the blame lies with them. There are certainly things wrong with this school, but I agree with you that every school will have it’s upsides and downsides.
When it comes to the students I completely understand, most give a very bad impression of this school. I walk the halls hearing the pointless drama about who is dating who or who go wasted and did something idiotic with someone else, it is a endless cycle of immaturity. For the teachers on the other hand I kind of disagree, you are correct that some do not put in the time and effort to help their students thrive no matter what type of learning style they have. But the majority of the faculty in this building are hear because they care about the students and have their best interest at heart. We all know that we are not the richest school and any of the teachers could find a better paying teaching position but for some reason they stay because they have hope that they can make a difference in the students, especially the ones stuck in the endless cycle of immaturity. When it comes to teachers we got a few tough ones but all in all we got seriously lucky.
I have moved around and switched schools many times, and I know this all too well and I agree with your view of teachers and students.
I completely get where you are coming from. From someone who also switched from a school that wasn’t the greatest I also agree with your perspective of the students, drug usage, and the atmosphere given off by the teachers.
