Mistakes

Have you ever had a adrenaline rush so big but you had to do something important but you choked because you are just so caught up in the moment and you act without thinking? I have made this mistake before , and I regret it so much. It made my winter less fun and I didn’t get to eat anything good. Deer steak is my favorite meat on earth and I choked on the shot.

It was a long day and I had been out hunting with my friend all morning . Walking for hours and sitting for a couple. Waiting and waiting for the moment when a deer crosses the same path as you and at just the right time. Some times it pays of the put the time in and other times its just not meant to be. I have been hunting for some years now and have only seen a couple of deer, so this year I was really putting in the time that it takes to get one but in my case it was just not meant to be. I was not lucky enough to harvest a deer. I was not intended to make that shot on that deer. That deer was the lucky one that day. I had just stood up and started to walk after a long waiting game on the end of a field. As I was walking down a old trail a group of deer must have been spooked and started to run right at me. I stood motionless in the trail.  The group of small and large deer got closer and closer. As my feelings and emotions built, I slowly reached for my gun and took the safety off slowly and looked through the scope at the running deer. As the deer run past me I blasted a quick shot in their direction missing and scaring the deer even more and then the deer ran away so fast I could not get another shot off. The must have been their lucky one that day.

I had missed my chance to put food on the table. I made a big mistake that day. I had “buck fever” as they say. I was so excited and scared and nervous and happy all at the same time that I forgot all the steps that I was taught in hunters safety course the year before. That was my first ever shot at a deer and I rushed it and missed.I made the mistake of not taking my time and making sure I had a nice clean shot.

That was a very good story and it was very well written. I am sorry you didn’t get your deer steak and I can understand the fact of choking at the last second. It was good story, but I wish the outcome had been better for you.

Very well written story. I’m sorry everything did not go as planned but there is always more deer and always next year! I can compare to the choking part while hunting, my story is very similar to yours. Anyway good luck to you and getting your deer steak for the next upcoming winter.
