Power Outage

Sometimes the earth is really cruel but sometimes it’s funny when its cruel to everyone but you. When there is a big power outage in the state of Maine most of the times many people are without power for days but me. I live near Lewiston so within hours I have power back. The other day was a perfect example of how the earth is cruel to some.
In the early morning of Monday, October 30th, nearly five hundred thousand people lost power. I woke up thinking “awwe yeah its Monday morning, its a teacher workshop today so there’s no school, today’s going to be great!” but then I learned that we had no power and I was sad. Luckily since we live close to the City of Lewiston and there are a few businesses near our house so the power came back on within a few hours. Although the universe wasn’t as cruel to me but it was my girlfriend who didn’t have power for like 2 day which isn’t as some people I know. I still thought that it was pretty funny.
It was especially funny when she came to my house to do homework and charge her phone since she could not do so at her house. Her parents called and asked us to go to Smitties with them so we left my house and headed to hers. Going down her road I remember the look on her face as we see lights from the nearby houses. Since she had not been home for a while naturally she assumed that her house must have had power again. But then we got to her house and talked to her parents she faced a cruel and funny realization that she, in fact, did not have power. She and her parents were furious she did not have power. They even called CMP and yelled at them saying something was wrong since everyone but them had power back. Come to find out every house on her street except hers had a generator. I thought it was pretty funny when she was excited because she thought she had power but then realized that she didn’t. It was even funnier when she was mad because everyone had a generator except her. This is just one example of how the universe can be cruel sometimes.

I can relate to this because i got my power back soon too. I need the power so I can look at memes and play video games all night. This post was so funny I could not contain myself all the way through it. I liked the part where you got the power back and your girlfriend didn’t and she was mad that part was hilarious.

Haha I love this. You’re lucky that your power can come right back. I didn’t get mine back for 6 days and it was nuts. Everyone on my road had a generator, and we weren’t able to get one until 2 days in. We had it running for 1 day and it broke! Then we borrowed one from a friend because he lived right down the road and he had his power back and we didn’t. Luckily that one continued to work but it only powered the essential household items. I love the part where you mentioned that your girlfriend got so excited thinking she had power when she didn’t. This post made me laugh quite a few times.

I got mine back in like 4 hours. This was one of the most entertaining ones I have read yet.

This is kind of funny to me because I’ve experienced both sides of the situation. Numerous times I’ve lost power and have had no access to a generator. Other times, we had a good generator handy to keep our whole house powered. Luckily, I live in Lewiston half the time and when we do lose power, it’s not for long.

I was lucky during this storm. I had power back only hours after it went out because I’m on the same line as the fire department! My girlfriend and I both had power that same day. We were glad to see the power had returned, even though we had prepped for the power to be out for five days. But, I’m glad we had supplies backed up just in case we weren’t so lucky.

I liked this story because I remember when this happened last yeah and almost the exact same thing happened to me. I would have just liked to hear more of what happened like why we lost power and just more details like how long t took to get the power back.
