“A friend in need is a friend indeed”, I am a firm believer in helping others all that you can, especially friends. I don’t care if it 3 a.m. or 3 p.m. if a friend calls in need of something I will answer and do my best to help them, no matter how close of friends we are or what the effect on me may be. I’ll buy any friend food, if I have the funds to do so or I will go hangout with them as long as I won’t be murdered by my parents.

Taylor is very obviously my best friend. We have been friends for about 6 years now, so we have helped each other a lot, in many different ways. One thing that really stuck out to me was just recently when Taylor and her mother had gotten into a big fight. Taylors mom had messaged me asking what she should do, at that time I didn’t have an answer for her. I had texted Taylor to see what was going on, she did not really want to talk at that point. I was fine with this, it may have not been my place to do this, but I decided to put my shoes on and go figure out what was going on although it was not at all my business. I could see that they needed my help, especially since Taylors mother had reached out to me. I then texted Taylor and said, “I’m coming to get you”. She knew she wasn’t supposed to leave the house, and I knew she wasn’t as well. That didn’t stop me from going to pick Taylor up and talk to her and her mother about what was going on. I tried to help them get over their differences and I brought Taylor out to get her favorite food (Chinese) to help her calm down and figure out a solution. I may not be the first friend to volunteer to hang out with someone but if a friend needs me, I will always be there.

When I found out Taylor was arguing with her mother and her mother messaged me was when I found out how much we really mean to each other, I would do anything for her. I am glad I am the first person she thinks of when she needs help, along with her mother which is slightly odd, but I am absolutely okay with it.
Taylor on the other hand does not drive so we do not have exactly the same situation, but I know that no matter what happens Taylor will always stand beside me. Whether it is buying me dinner because I am extremely broke or it’s giving me mental support. Taylor is always willing to help me, even if I am in the wrong and she knows it she will be truthful with me and tell me to cut the s***. She may not help me in the exact same ways that I help her, but we work well as a team, always willing to drop whatever we are doing to help the other. Taylor helps me in the biggest way of keeping me sane, she is my go-to. If I am stressed I can count on her to invite me over for a study date, if I am just feeling down, I know she will send me a cheesy text or snapchat to brighten my day. Even if I forgot to bring a lunch, she will make an extra and bring it to me at school. Anything I need, she is there. Especially when it comes to snacks, or any food really, she always buys me food! This is not one sided though, anything she needs, I will always be here. I think that is the best way to have a friendship, one where you compliment each other so well you could conquer anything together and are always there to help one another.

Humans need each other, they rely on each other. We need people to grow our food for us, take care of our illnesses, etc. We can live without friends, that doesn’t mean we should. If we are friends I will always be here for you to help you when in need, even if we do not talk all the time, I do this because I hope others would do the same for me.
