So back in December I had a little accident and I injured my elbow (as people can probably tell because of the sling). I was at cheerleading practice and we were doing our usual warm ups and stuff. We were doing cartwheels which I can do and i did like five of them or however many it was and then coach says to do roundoffs. Roundoffs are pretty much a different type of cartwheel. Anyways I can’t really do them, I used to be able to do them, but I injured my foot a few times so I was out of practice so I could no longer do them. But it’s ok, I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t, Autumn couldn’t do one either. So Autumn and I tell coach that we can’t do them and she tells us to try. So I try and it went okay. Then she tells us to try again. And this is when tragedy struck! I went to do one, as I am going over doing it, I hear a crack in my elbow, and I fall straight to the floor. I look down at my elbow and there it is, popped out, you could clearly see that it was popped out. At first I thought it was broken because I heard the crack but it wasn’t, well kind of cause it did fracture a little but that’s besides the point. Anyways nobody knew what to do because the trainer wasn’t there or whatever, so I was sitting there all calm, honestly coach was more freaked out than I was. This is the part where a friend helping me comes in. Kelsea Mulherin helped me that day and so did Autumn Byras. Kelsea was the one who called my mom to come get me so that is how she helped because obviously I couldn’t drive so she had to come get me and bring me to the hospital. Autumn Byras was the other one who helped me. She held my arm up to give my other arm a break, and she was very careful with it and didn’t hurt me anymore. I couldn’t put my arm down because that probably would’ve hurt so I didn’t try it. Anyways mom brings me to the hospital and the guy in there was like “Why didn’t you call an ambulance?” The answer that question, it didn’t hurt that bad so nobody thought I needed to go in one, little did I know later on it would be the most painful thing I would ever go through in my life. Also I have to thank everyone for not calling because that would’ve been so embarrassing. So that is how a friend or friends have helped me through a difficult time.
Throughout my years in cheering I have helped people as well. Since I front a lot, which is the person that stands in front. I help people by preventing them from falling. Sometimes if I was not there they could potentially fall flat on their face. Of course the other girls help too but so do I. As a front I also help them by stabilizing their legs to keep them from falling. So I could say I have helped many friends in my life.
