Destruction and new beginnings

The earth can be cruel in many different ways, from earthquakes to forest fires.So many different things happen in the world but one of the ways to show how the earth is cruel is by the powerful and dangerous hurricanes that sweep over the united states and destroy many, many things. Mother nature throws crazy things at us all the time. Recently there was  several massive hurricane that hit Puerto Rico and knocked out power for months and months. There are many different hurricanes that hit the country and world every year. Sometimes they are small, sometimes that are massive and very destructive. Seems like there is no in between. Katrina was one of the worst because of when it happened, we didn’t have as much knowledge as we did today but now we know a lot more.

Hurricane Katrina was one of the most devastating and powerful hurricanes that has hit the united states. I was in New Orleans 1 week before the Hurricane hit, people had no idea what was coming there way. Over 800,000 people lost their homes, all the memories and personal belongings. Imagine losing your house to something you had no control over. They have to rebuild millions of buildings because of one storm.

While we were in New Orleans, It was beautiful, colorful, warm and people were happy. We went down Bourbon street (Which we called scary street), and all the buildings and streets were packed with people. As a 5 year old, I didn’t really know what was going to happen in the next few weeks. My sister and I were let into a jazz bar, being 5 and 8, that was one of the coolest things that had ever happened to us. Looking at pictures today of the places that we went is weird because half of the places aren’t there anymore because of the hurricane. In some ways, it seems like the earth is getting payback for all the bad things we put into the environment every day. It is almost like she is laughing at us in a way. It was something that you never thought would happen to a city or let alone almost to you. It was one of the most devastating thats that has happened to the country.

Everything happens for a reason, the earth proves every day that it is not something that you want to mess with. Powerful winds, rain, heat, cold. Everything that you can think about shows every day and a lot of the times it can be extremely cruel. The world really doesn’t care about humans, she does what she wants when she wants to do it. Throughout the years, we learn to deal with devastating disasters that mother nature throws at us and we get stronger and stronger after each one.
