My sister and I go way back, like to the days I was born. Since that day we’ve been the best of friends. When my sister and I were younger, we had our ups and downs, she would make me mad and I would tell on her, we’d wrestle and I’d cry, then proceed to tell on her, I’d take something that was hers and then she’d take it back, and once again, I would tell on her. Although it seems like I was mad at her for most of my childhood, there were many good times. As we got older, we just continued to get closer. Then my sister got into high school and I was still my young, innocent self, and we started to drift apart. After she graduated and I got into high school, she moved out of our small bedroom that we shared our whole lives, and into an apartment with her boyfriend. I thought I had completely lost my best friend. Then things in her life happened, she matured, and went to Arizona. She stayed there for 2 years, and during that time I visited her a few times, and those were some of my favorite memories, but one in particular was when she came home for a couple weeks my sophomore year.
So, my sister came home around the end of May, and she was with us for a few weeks before my mom, sister and I road tripped back to Arizona. During this time, me and my sister were rekindling our relationship and got so close so fast. Anyway, while she was here, we wanted to go hiking, so we went to Mt. Apatite in Auburn, let me just say, we are not directionally inclined, at all. So we made to the “top” of this very small mountain, and started our trek back down, hoping we were going the wrong way. As we made our way down my sister kept saying “where are we?” “I think we’re going the wrong way” and “we’re lost”. I told her to stop saying those things and that I would get us back. So we finally made our way to the bottom and out of the trail, and just now realizing that we had made it back to the entrance on the other side. We had no idea how to get back to where we had started and were not about to go back into to those very confusing woods. So we put in the address we were parked at and walked down random roads in Auburn for about 5 miles until, hoping we were going the right way because both our phones did eventually die. After about 2 hours we made it back to the car, covered in sweat and tears (not literally). We just got into the car and laughed, at the ridiculous situation we had put ourselves into, but relieved that we made it back to the car alive. That was one of the many crazy stories I have with my sister that end in laughter.

This was a silly blog post! Do not worry though Makayla, everyone gets lost at least once in their life, but for some people, they get lost a lot more times than once. I’m glad this moment brought you and your sister together, especially since you go way back (back to when you were born) and you drifted apart throughout the years. This blog post makes me think of all the times I’ve used google maps to get places and it just makes me remember that technology is a wonderful thing especially when you are lost. Sometimes you not only get lost location wise, but you can also lose yourself. It seems like your sister helps you find who you are so I’m glad you have such a good relationship.
I agree with swood18. It’s really nice to have such great relationship with your sister, and it’s good that the two of you were able to make it out of the woods, and off the mountain. It would’ve been a bummer if you never found your way out. Like swood18 said, good thing for technology!! It could’ve been really bad if you didn’t have your GPS.
