5 things about my high school experience

There are a lot of things that you learn throughout your 4 years of high school. From learning how to do a lock down drill properly, to learning what the difference between a debit card and a credit card is. Tragic times have happened, but so have fun and memorable times. Winter carnival, homecoming, beating the seniors at almost everything. Awesome sport seasons, drama performances, English performances. We might forget stuff about high school, but we won’t forget some of the major things that we have learned. Here are the top 5 things that I have learned throughout high school.

Number 1: high school is nothing like High School Musical, no matter how hard you try. You don’t spontaneously break into song and dance around, you don’t get to skip out on class whenever you want to go audition for a school musical. High school is more or less just school, nothing special, nothing fancy, just school.

Number 2: make friends with teachers. Having teachers as friends is always a good idea, you can talk to them about anything. Sometimes they are the other person that you are able to go and just talk to, from help with an assignment, to something that is going on at home. One of the many teachers that I became friends with is Luchini, having him as more of a friend than a teacher has really helped me get through high school in one piece.

Number 3: Senioritis is real. You don’t think going into senior year that you would be totally okay with showing up late to school or just not showing up at all. Senior skip day happens more than just once, don’t let anyone fool you. I’m sure every single high school senior has woken up and contemplated whether or not they should make the effort to actually go to school, and most of the time the answer is yes, you need to go to school.

Number 4: Eating your problems away will not work, just because you have a few late assignments doesn’t mean that you need to eat everything in sight. You will be up till 1, 2, 3 in the morning doing homework with friends, chowing down on pizza and chips. My best friend and I have done this several times over the past few years trying to get math and english done on time. Don’t start your freshman 15 early, you’ll need that.

Number 5: Teachers will tell you you can’t, prove them wrong. Teachers will tell you not to wait till the last minute and that you can’t get a semester long project done in one night, you will prove them wrong. Every teacher will tell you something different, and most of the time you will prove them wrong some time during your high school career.

High school will be different for everyone. Some will be good, some will be bad. Everyone will learn different things throughout high school, whether they are about school or about life, you will find who you really are and sometimes what you want to do with your life after school.

I like how you said that high school is nothing like high school musical. As kids we had watched that movie so much that I started to think that is what high school was really like.
