Quiet but here

Class of 2018 the day is finally here that we have all been waiting for. To get the heck out of this place. Although everyone may have known me as the quiet kid who never talked, few were able to get to know me and know that I am not really that quiet. A lesson or two could be learned from sitting back and observing others and if people did what I do more often than they would see and hear a lot more.

In football, I became a leader even though everyone on my team thought I was shy. But when you are someone who can sit back and listen to what your coach is saying instead of paying attention to what your friends are doing, you learn a lot more. There are so many times I could name that my friends would not stop talking and my coach would freak out and compare them to me and how they should be quiet. Sitting back and listening in certain situations can make it better for you and your team.

Everyone knows my girlfriend Deja. She is my loud other half. Believe it or not, there are times where she stops talking and listens. People often make fun of her and say that she’s always the one talking not me but I will never forget the time her family first heard me talking. Sometimes it’s good to not talk when you do something dumb and everyone hears you. I was joking around in the car and singing Taylor Swift to Deja because she hates Taylor Swift and everyone laughed at me in the car for it! That may be one example that definitely shows you should stay quiet or you should sing to your girlfriend when her parents aren’t listening.

A time where you should definitely be quiet is when your mom is angry. This is a lesson I think my brothers will never understand. Chase and Stone love to go at it with my mom and I try to explain that if they would just shut up and not be jerks life would be a lot easier for them. But if you know Chase and Stone then you’d know that never happens. They will eventually realize that I do not argue and they do and I am the one never in trouble.

People just assume that being quiet is a bad thing but most of the time it is not. Although being outgoing is useful you won’t learn if your always the one talking or presenting. Being quiet helps you on sports teams, to not embarrass yourself in front of your girlfriend’s parents, or not get yelled at by your mom. In life, if you don’t sit back and listen you will miss things you would never have seen if you were talking.
