Laugh it off

Laughter is a way of making someones bad days good, awkward situations better, and pain can be ignored by it. Laughter is a way to make everything disappear, everyone loves a good laugh even when they are sad. Laughing reduces blood pressure, reduces stress hormones, increases muscle flexion and increases the circulation of antibodies in the blood stream and makes us more resistant to infection. There has been several different times where I have laughed but this one sticks in my head. There was a time it was snowing and we had a snow day we got like 2 feet. So me and my cousins wanted to go sledding so we got all of snow stuff ready and we headed out back of my grandfathers house down the big hill. We got in the sleds and snow board and were going down for an hour or so and then we decided that we wanted to make a jump. So we did and we were having fun but I decided I wanted to go down on the snowboard so I went down and was going quite a lot faster than I was before. I hit the jump caught about 3 feet of air and landed down fairly hard on the ground shook up I quickly yelled and said “I’m good” and started laughing, that was until I realized my arm was not following my elbow. I knew it was broke so I grabbed my scarf wrapped it around my arm and around my neck I needed redemption I jumped into a sled and went down the hill hit the jump and made it and landed got up show my mom and we headed to the hospital it was broke so for the next 6 weeks I had a nasty smell itchy cast. There has also been times where in a race I have been wrecked, Kurt Hewins is a veteran street stock driver but he is also a very rough racer I was racing for the win in the ikey dorr 100 and he decided to try to drive through me instead of going around. He hit me got me loose and tried to go underneath me and cut his own tire down all I can do is laugh because he is not going to run me dirty and he has realized its not going to work. I am easily considered one of the best now and it feels good. I have had to deal with veterans thinking they can drive through me and it never works all I can do is laugh. There was also this time it was a hunting incident me and my grandfather went out, I was about 10 years old my first year of hunting. We went out and sat behind my grandfathers friends house, we were only there for about 10 minutes and I was already bored but my grandfather said just be patient. We sat there for about 45 minutes and we heard a noise and my grandfather said “get ready” so I put my little 243 Winchester bolt up. I saw a deer peek its head around a tree and he said wait for a good shot so I thought it would be a good idea to try to shoot it in the head so I didn’t ruin the meat. I shot at it in the head and it took off and behind it there was a big buck that takes off. My grandfather was a little angry all that I could say is “can we go to another spot” and we laughed all the way back to the truck I was hooked. The point or lesson of this is laughter is the key to life it makes everything better no matter what state of mental or physical condition you’re in. I have gone through my fair share of awkward laughs, mad laughs, happy laughs, and painful laughs. It has made me turn into a better person because I have anger issues and with laughing they pretty much go away completely. Laughing about this instead of getting made about things has made me have the motto of never quitting and second is the first loser.

I enjoyed reading about these moments in your life when you faced some sort of adversity but were able to just laugh it off. That’s very important, and its great to hear that you are able to laugh the anger away in certain situations. It’s great that you have developed that “never quit” attitude, as too many people now want to just give up when things get hard. I agree with the second place thing too. As the great Ricky Bobby once said, “if you ain’t first, you’re last”
