2019 graduates, there are many things that your parents or people in general do not tell you about what is going to happen in high school. My high school career sucked. You WILL get bullied, you Will lose friends that you’d never think you’d lose. There will be times where you are at your lowest point you could possibly be at and no one will be there for you. High school is hard and it’s not just about the school work, it’s about who you surround yourself with.
My freshman year was a confusing time for me, not only was I in a toxic relationship with a senior that only felt like he wanted sex, but half way through the school year I had to get out of an easier English class to be able to go to a D1 or D2 college in the future. It was hard on me because my education was being brought to a place I wasn’t ready for, it also made me drown in my school work.
Sophomore year wasn’t easy at the beginning of the year either. The field hockey team won states. I realized that I was depressed and needed to get out of the relationship I had been in for a year and a half. Once I came to terms with what I had to do for myself to get better mentally, I finally came out of the cocoon I barred myself in. After about four months of being better and happy, I got into a new relationship that I thought would last a lifetime. He was from Lisbon (our rivals lol) and it was all new to me because we both lived farther away from each other and neither of us had our license. I’m not going to say it wasn’t hard through the school work, making time with my friends, and finding time to hang out with my boyfriend, because it was. Everything was turning around for me through that year.
Junior year I was finally an upperclassman. It wasn’t everything I was hoping for though. First thing, before wrestling season I hyperextended and sprained my elbow so I had to be out of wrestling for a good month before I could actually compete. This year we lost water and got a new VP. Losing the water and having half days at school was nice, but having a new VP has made it a more difficult year. I got close to some people and I do and don’t regret it. If you and your man break up and your friend that you just got close to starts hanging out with him, it is not something you want to hear at the beginning of your senior year of high school.
Senior year has been really rough; from getting suspended and finally everyone showing their true colors, it can bring you down. All summer when you were just looking to get attention because you lost yourself somewhere in your last relationship and you were trying to find yourself again isn’t something you want to hear during the year. 2019 was the year that was supposed to be mine, but it’s not because in high school you’re lucky to have a good year.
All I’m trying to say is have a good time. Do what you want to do and don’t let others impact your life so harshly. Like I said before, you’ll get bullied because of things you’ve done or haven’t done. You’re going to lose friends and gain better friends. You’re going to have a rough time through high school but if you pick the perfect people to surround yourself with you shouldn’t have a problem with who you will lose. You’re also going to screw up a lot but accept it and take on the challenges that come at you. If you’re strong and you and your friends believe in yourselves you shouldn’t have too bad of a high school career.

I agree with everything you said about Senior year, it was a really rough year. Its hard trying to find yourself again and hard to find happiness after a hard break up. Happy to hear your’e happier and that you learned from the challenges.
I like how you overcame the adversity that you had freshman year and throughout most of your sophomore year. I too have been bullied and I must admit, it does intact suck. But what the best part is, is that you can overcome them
