Hello my fellow English classmates of English IV. Thank you for allowing me to come and rant about how I feel about people who complain about teachers who are supposedly mean. Frankly, this doesn’t relate to you guys because if it did then you probably wouldn’t be here in English IV, so good on you for getting your work done. Now onto my rant. Disclaimer: I am not talking about anyone in particular and if this offends you, I apologize but I’m just ranting.
Personally, some of my biggest pet-peeves were really present in my high school career. There are several things that really get under my skin when it comes to some of the things people do. Things like complaining about a teacher who is supposedly “mean” that being in quotes, when that person doesn’t get their work done. First off, if you’re going to complain about a teacher because they aren’t jumping on grading your late work, keep in mind they gave you time in class to do said work. The reason this really annoys me is because they have other things to grade and you’re not their only student. The next is because you couldn’t be bothered to do your work on time.
There are several other things that make me want to shout at the person to make them shut up, but one of the other biggest things that get under my skin is when people complain that they’re failing when, again, they can’t be bothered to do their work. I’ve heard several people say that they don’t understand why their failing and that it’s not right that they can’t do sports or other activities because it’s not their fault. I’m going to say I underlined those last three wwords for a reason although I know you can’t see it I did underline the words Not their fault. Now, if I’m correct nobody else is responsible for doing your work other than you. I certainly am not to blame for you failing and not being able to play whatever sport you want. Frankly, that’s the issue with our generation. We can’t take responsibility for our own mess ups. We get upset and try to blame others for our failings but we need to remember that this is the safest place we will ever be in our entire lives. School is where we need to step up and learn. Of course if you haven’t learned that by now, you’re lagging a little behind the rest of us. Because once we get out into the real world, as most of us are starting to work or already have a job, we start living on our own and start making our living for our future, the world will not be forgiving in the slightest. Sure, you’ll be given many more freedoms but at the same time the risks increase. It’s kind of funny how we are pampered as children only to be thrown to the wolves as adults. We’re often times given many luxurious of life as kids that will never again be enjoyed. Life is a lot harder as an adult so if you can’t get your work done now you probably will have a VERY tough time out there in the adult world.
So, I hope I didn’t offend to many of you but I can’t say how annoying it is to see these things as a senior. Now as I said before this doesn’t relate to many of you or really any of you at all but just keep working and I hope to see you on the graduation floor.

I totally agree with you that it isn’t fair towards the teacher that students say they don’t like that teacher just because they aren’t passing their work in on time. And yes the teacher shouldn’t have to grade their work right away if it is turned in like I agree with that but I’ve also been on the other side of that where there was a quick deadline and no way for me to finish the work on time because of sports and yet the teacher was still rude about it. I don’t know maybe that is a personality thing but I can see both sides. Anyway I like how you approached this speech and took it as a way to take something that has been bugging you off your chest It’s different and it works. Good job.
