Hello period 3 white day. I believe very strongly that things happen for a reason. But only certain things, if that even makes sense. Let’s flashback to freshman year where we all looked young and childish like we just finished 8th grade or something. I am sure most of you were very nervous as I was the very first day. I was excited for a fresh start since middle school was pretty awful for me. I thought going into it was going to be this amazing self discovering four years at Oak Hill High School. It was, but it also wasn’t. What I mean is, yes, you learn plenty of new things education-wise. But when it comes down to it high school is all about what you make of it. For some people it was a horrible negative and not fun four years for others it could’ve been an amazing and astonishing four years of high school. But I ask as a friend to all of you, please do not let high school be the best four years of your life. Someone very close to me once said “If High school is the best time of your life you’re doing something wrong.”
Now, let’s get back to the things happen for a reason convo. The reason I think only some things happen for a reason is because of a certain day, and that day is November 14th, 2016. That is the day I had a major back surgery, as most of you know about. It was one long surgery and recovery afterwards as if it was never ending. Going through this process I kept telling myself “why me”. But after much thinking, I’m a very lucky person to be able to go through this process of rehabilitating my back. There are people out there that are fighting cancer and don’t know if they are going to live to be 15. So, I took this situation as everything happens for a reason and that reason is to count yourself lucky. I am sorry to get very down but this is truly how I feel.
While I was deciding what quote to use for my senior quote I thought of, what did high school really teach me. Other then how to cite information properly and use in text citations as much as possible. It taught me that “wherever you go, go with all your heart”. That’s not only a rule that I will live by, it is also a statement directed towards you fellow peers in front of me.
The one thing to take out of my experience at Oak Hill High School is high school is what you make of it and I believe very deeply that life is what you make of it as well. When all of you move on from this place and start your own lives please keep in mind “wherever you go, go with all your heart.”
