Making A Terrible Mistake

Me? Almost failing a class. No, this could not happen. Throughout my life I have made many mistakes. Most of them being embarrassing, but from every mistake I have made, I have learned something from it. High school has been a roller coaster, so much going on and everything happening too fast. I have always had good grades, but I do not usually get honors due to missing it by 1 point in 1 class. There has always been 1 class that I have struggled with, like Geometry or Government and Politics. I am not really fond of those classes but I usually do my homework for those classes and I pay attention in class so I could try to learn it and possibly like the class. There are some rare occasions that I do not do my homework because of my laziness, but I usually do very well in school and get my work done on time. This time, it was different.

Junior year, Government and Politics, it started out easy with worksheets that I was able to do with ease. Then came our first project where we had to choose a historical event and say what the government did to help the situation. I did this project but it was almost a week late, before this class everything I turned in was on time. Once I was behind on that assignment, I fell behind on every other assignment too. We had a big essay that had to be 5 pages or longer, and this essay took me longer than a month to complete. I was struggling in this class so bad that I was stressing out and not getting much sleep. I did nothing inside of this class and nothing outside, I just used it as a study hall. More summatives were being handed out while I was still trying to figure out how to start the essay. I fell behind so quickly that it was almost impossible to catch up. Toward the end of the year we got yet another summative that I was not even close to starting. The seniors that were in my class were almost about to graduate and I was still 3 summatives behind. Once the seniors were gone there was not much school left to finish up the summatives. I had a talk with myself and told myself that I was not going to fail a single class during high school and that I needed to get my stuff together and finish this class. The next class we had I got 1 summative done. I went home and started the next summative and by the next class we had I finished that summative, leaving only 1 left. It was the last week of school and I turned in my final summative which I knew was not my best work, but I had to get it in. I got the summative back with things that needed to be fixed. It was the last day of school and I still had to fix this summative. I sat down and worked on it all day and finally got it done. I ended up passing the class with almost an A. This was the worst class I had ever taken in high school. I was so disappointed in myself for putting everything off for the last minute. This was never going to happen again.

I almost failed Government and Politics. What I learned from this horrible mistake I made was to do my work on time, to do my homework, and to not put everything off until the last minute. By not doing my work and by putting it off till the last minute almost made me fail the class. I learned that I need to take responsibility with my schoolwork and make time to complete it so I will not fail any classes. From now on I will complete my schoolwork on time and I will do all of the homework that is given to me so I can stay on pace and not fall behind to jeopardize the chance of getting a good grade.
