On a Drive

It was the summer of 2019 and I was headed to the DMV in Lewiston at 11 o’clock A.M. and I was about to go for my license. It was the second I have been here and I was ready this time. I went inside to wait for my instructor and get any paperwork I needed and looked at all the other kids there going for their license too. Finally, after waiting 10 minutes I saw my instructor that would be assessing me soon.

Then I went out and I got into the car I would be driving to take my test for the second time. While waiting for my instructor to assess my driving which just made me more nervous the longer I waited for him. Finally, he came out to test the car seeing if everything worked correctly like the lights, blinkers, and windshield wipers. After checking that he got into the car with me and said what he is suppose to say about how this is a state test and telling me what he will be assessing me on which just made me more nervous, but I was still sure I was going to do good this time. Then he gave me the go and said I could turn left out of the parking lot to the first obstacle, parallel parking. Parallel parking is what made me fail the first time I went for my license so I wanted to do perfect this time. So I got very nervous when pulling up next to the car so when I started backing up the first time to park myself behind the car. This made me mess up my parking by and hair and my instructor saw that also, so my instructor told me try again. So I pulled up next to the car again and nailed it and he said “good job” and told me to take this left. At this point I had a feeling I was going to pass. So we go all throughout Lewiston, the instructor testing me and telling me to turn here and there. Then finally coming back to the DMV we took a back road and my instructor told me to pull over and we will be doing our 50-foot back-up. So I start to back up and got very nervous because this was the last thing, it was the pass or fail. So during my 50 foot back up I hit the curb and when I felt that I knew I failed. The instructor told me to pull out back into the road and told me what turns to take until I got back to the DMV. When I got to the DMV my instructor said what I was expecting and told me to send my information out again to the state and that I will get my date back in about 3 to 4 weeks.

I got out of the car and went back over to my parent to leave. After I got home I sent my information out to the state and got my date back and went to the DMV again to go for my license. After this time I knew I needed to be ready and take this one as serious as I can and that is what I did when I went for the third time and got my license. After getting my license on my third try it made me happier than ever to get the weight off my back from not having my license.

Great story I compellingly understand this because when I went to take my test I was also extremely nervous. I understand that the longer that you have to wait the more anxious and nervous that you get.

When I went for my license I was also extremely nervous as well, so I get why you were nervous. It’s great that you ended up getting your license, so you can drive to places.
