High School Experiences

Hello, to the future freshman students who complain and whine about high school when they arrive. I am here to explain to you what I loved so much about this prison, and about what I hated or just didn’t really want to get involved in because I just didn’t find it interesting. There have been many things throughout high school that made me like being in high school and there have also been many things that made me hate high school. Like this speech I am reading here… Oh, one piece of advice while I am still thinking about it is don’t push your work off to the day or night before because it is just so much easier in the end if you do the work the day your teachers give it to you. Like this advice I’m giving you is from the thought of me having to do this speech late when I could have done it piece by piece throughout the week, but that’s just what happens when you decide to wait. Don’t be me and wait to do everything.

First, I want to start this speech off with some negativity, because who doesn’t like to hear what you shouldn’t do. Here, I’ll give you a small list to start off. Don’t wait to do your work, don’t become enemies with any of the teachers, and please just be quiet at the important times in class. There is nothing more annoying than when the teacher is talking and she has to pause what she is saying mid sentence because some buffoon thinks their voice is as important as the person who is trying to teach us and help us. Just let the teacher finish and I am sure whatever you have to say can wait until after when we are allowed to talk. Unlike some people, I like to hear what we have to do for work because I know we will get assigned it so I can start it and not have as much to do when I get home. I NEVER did homework at home. Just wasn’t me and I knew I wouldn’t do anything so I got it done at school so I could have whatever time I wanted for myself at home. And last but not least, don’t get on the bad side of any teachers. It only benefits you to become friends with them because, in my experience, teachers were my friends and helped me a lot.

This last part is about how much I appreciate the help and friendship of my teachers. I know I will not forget about you guys and how much you guys have helped me through highschool and just how much you had to deal with me, and the fact that there are literally two of me doesn’t make it any better. Even though I had Ms. Finn and we were friends with her. She still couldn’t quite figure out which was which and that was okay because at least she tried and I am used to it anyways and I will answer to either name. I tell you this because you need to understand the friendship between you and your teachers will be one of the strongest ways to get help through high school and with whatever you need. I spent countless hours after school with my teachers to get help, and not only was I doing school work I was getting to know my teachers more and it just built on to our friendship. Being able to understand you have these teachers to help you is just amazing. Not to pick favorites or anything, but my definite favorite teachers are Ms. Chick, and Ms Finn by far… Yeah, I know I picked favorites, but I had to. They were there for me every time I needed them and they would help as much as they could and not push me away. So I advise you to become friends with Ms. Chick and Ms. Finn. Also, I know for a fact Ms. Chick will be friends with you because I know I am her favorite student ever so if I say she will be your friend it is just obviously a request she will follow. That goes for Ms. Finn as well.

But seriously, all jokes aside, both Chick and Finn are the best thing the school has to offer and It was amazing to have them there for me when I needed help, and always helped. You should believe in the community of Oak Hill High School because it was definitely there for me and helped a lot and I know a lot of people joke about how “bad” our school is, but there is a lot of good things about our school and you just need to find them, being new friends or teachers or both. It’s all there and you just need to discover the new and unfamiliar area to be successful throughout high school. Thank you, Goodbye freshies.

Great story, I definitely agree with never put off work until the last moment, and to be quiet durning serious moments. I will 100 percent agree with the last part about Mrs Finn and Mrs Chick being the best teachers Oak Hill has to offer!
