What’s so funny about dad jokes?

It was a glorious spring evening on April 18, 2021. It is time for dinner now and the narrow kitchen is barely enough room for eight people. my dad makes jokes but something about his jokes is funny but they are not really that funny. Later that afternoon I thought while moving my blond hair out of my face I thought, why do we laugh and what is the purpose?

Around five at night. my dad sits down with the dad jokes and he is already smirking knowing everyone is going to laugh at his bad “dad jokes” Everyone is getting seated at the brown long and narrow table in the kitchen and all eight of us can just feel like laughing for no reason nothing is funny? People are getting served, and my dad pulls out the “dad jokes” everyone was waiting for the dad jokes says “I can’t take my dog to the pond anymore because the ducks keep attacking him. That’s what I get for buying a pure bread dog.” My dad clearly waiting for the reaction he wanted was his joke bad? We all started discussing the previous joke about a minute went by when he pulled out another smirkingly he said sarcastically said “Why couldn’t the bicycle stand up by itself? It was too tired!” again we all sat in silence waiting for one person to start the applauding.

At the end of the meal, normally around 6:00 pm about twenty minutes after we started eating. It was quiet but it is never silent, I remember chuckling at the kitchen table just enjoying myself. Just having a good time, my dad still laughing at his dad jokes from the blue sticky notes labeled. As “dad jokes” when he was done everyone returned to the ordinary table talk. later that day in the lightly lit living room I’m sitting on the brown couch. I thought why is everyone is still laughing almost teary-eyed, at our father because he was repeating the joke as he laughs out “that’s what I get for buying a pure bread dog” but was enjoying himself something we see often but something we can all relate to. Like just being able to laugh.

Now at the end of the day laying down in my bed, I thought why do we all chuckling at these funny “dad jokes” so I asked my stepmom, She said it connects us into a deeper, more thorough discussion. I agreed in a modest fashion she also said he wants to create more memories while he still can before everyone moves out. laughter played a big role because without everyone laughing it would all just be a bunch of bad jokes laughing makes the jokes and laughing also makes memories from the jokes at the end. my dad also looks more relaxed or satisfied due to everyone laughing at least one joke in conclusion without laughter there would be no fun at the table or any good jokes. laugher played a big role in this piece because laughing is said throughout and at the end, everyone at the table is in a good mood and ready to relax.
