A Long Ways To Go

Have you ever been so excited to do something, and you have to wait for so long to finally do it? It could be so close and you still have to weight a good hour to do it. Well here’s a story on when I had to be patient while in Disney. Back in February, for vacation from school, my family and I took a trip to Florida to go to Disney world. The last time any of us had been there was when I was 4. I guess you could say we were all pretty excited! Trying to get on rides in Disney is a huge task in it’s self. You could be weighting in a line for over an hour before even getting inside the building where the ride would be. I would get so bored and sweaty waiting in line. Having to hold my hair up and take off my thin jacket just to put it right back on when it started to rain for the 7th time that day. At one point I left the line, got a snack, used the bathroom, and walked around to get a few pictures. By the time I got back the line had only moved up 10 feet.

One of the rides I was really excited for was the Rock n Roller Coaster in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The line for that ride was probably the longest line we had been in out of the five parks. Most of the lines were about 20 to 45 minutes. When I tell you we were waiting in line for this ride for almost 3 hours, I’m not joking…. While my family and I were waiting in line, I decided to step out. I went and got a snack, sat down to rest my feet, and finally after about 20 minutes I headed back to the line to continue to wait to do on the ride.

Having to wait for so long in line, I needed to learn to be patient. Being patient from the start would have allowed to have a better time. As I was waiting in a really long line, I could have been having conversations with my family, or playing small games. Being patient is hard when you want to go on the ride so bad but there was nothing to do to make the line go fast or get onto the ride any faster. Having to wait in the lines for so long, I would become agitated. My feet hurt so I was whiney, it was super hot out and overall really boring to just stand there. I wasn’t the only one getting annoyed by the wait. My brother kept complaining and my dad wouldn’t stop talking about his knees hurting. At some points we were ready to just get out of line and say “I’m done”. Eventually, we all pushed through and were patient and I am so happy we did.
