City in the Trees

Dmusoke22’s avatar was very unique and well thought out. There’s a field of green grass, where a tree sits under a clear, blue sky. Some branches on the tree are ended with green leaves, whereas the top of the tree holds a city. There’s nothing surrounding the tree other than the field and sky, making the tree the center of attention. The colors are vibrant, overall using green and blue to cover most of the area, yet brown and gray are used in the tree. It seems very fitting for him.

The part of his avatar that grabbed my attention the most was the city at the top of the tree, which I believe was his intention. I was interested to hear why he chose to make that part of his avatar. He told me that the city symbolized closeness and love, or closeness to the people he loves because the city keeps everyone close together. I asked what his inspiration/thought process was and his answer was simply “Not being alone, even when isolated.” The tree itself symbolizes strength and growth, because, he says, “Trees grow and improve over the years.” The weather, being the blue, clear sky symbolizes happiness, clarity, and calm.

Dmusoke’s process in coming up with his avatar was relatively easy, according to him. He says that it just came to him. He thought about what was most important to him and he immediately thought of his family. He said “I guess I just came up with it on the spot.” He told me he had thought about it shortly before making the decision. It was a short, and easy process.

I envied his ease in the creation process, as I spent the better part of an hour thinking about what was important to me. I wrote out anything I could think of, even just throwing in random things to fill up the spaces. I ended up choosing the things that influence my life the most, rather than what’s the most important. My avatar represents more of who I am, rather than what’s most important to me.
