Family Importance.

Family. Family is important to many people, be it because they have a big family, or they are extremely close, and Rpickard22 is no exception. He has a large family, with which he has a close relationship. To quote “I’m really close with my family, and I have good relationships with them. There is nothing more important, and it is something I think should be protected because not everyone has one.” Rpickard22 designed his avatar around the thought of ‘family’ and ‘nature’, two things he loves. I was told, when interviewing him, that he enjoys nature a whole lot, having hiked and swimming both represented in his avatar. Hiking is displayed by a mountain, which is upfront, likely grabbing your immediate attention, and swimming, an ocean. He also brought his family in as well, with yellow rays coming from above the mountain, representing all the blond people in his family, as well as the white mountain, depicting the older parts of his family. 

Rpickard22 stated that, for the construction of his avatar, he just “…took the ideas I had, and put them onto the paper until I had something I liked.” Starting with several important things about his life, he had them in word form, but needed them picturized, so that is what he did. He took the words, gave them shapes with meanings, and constructed the avatar. I myself took a very similar approach, only with more concept ideas, until I found the one I wanted. 

When I learned what Rpickard 22’s avatar meant, and what everything represented, I was decently surprised, I did not expect it to be mostly about family. I’m not quite sure what I was expecting, but the family aspect is not at all bad. He found a way to incorporate everything. I myself had empty spaces with no meaning, whilst even his colorless spaces tied into the hair color of the older side of his family.

I had asked Rpickard22 a few questions relating to his avatar, and why he chose the symbols he chose. One thing represented in his picture was nature, so I questioned him on it “Why do you like nature, why have it in your avatar?” “Nature is a peaceful break from my chaotic life. It’s a good way to de-stress, and exercise at the same time.” The mention of his chaotic life led me to ask another question, unrecorded. I asked what he meant by that, and he told me that he just had a usually packed house, with parents, siblings, and grandparents. 

Overall, I believe that Rpickard22’s avatar is really good, depicting a few things important to him. Managing to fit several things into the space provided, and using every spot is pretty cool to me, as I myself have a lot of dead space.
