Avatars

Arobinson22 designed their avatar after five things that represent them.  It is a very uniquely designed avatar that really speaks to his creativity.  The avatar has a green background.  In the center of the avatar is a red bed with a blue pillow on top.  Both above and below the bed are white fangs, like that which would be on a vampire.  

At first it is difficult to make out the individual pieces to Arobinson22’s avatar because it fits together so well.  The first thing that jumped out at me was the two massive fangs on the top and bottom of this symbol.  I wasn’t expecting to see that and it definitely attracted me to the story behind his process in making his avatar.  He told me how much he liked games and how his avatar symbolises the different ones he gravitates towards.  He said, “The fangs represent a dragon in Dungeons and Dragons(D&D) named Todd the destroyer of beds”. A game he likes to play but when I asked him how many times he has played it he responded saying, “I have only played it a few times”.  This could be because the actual creation of a D&D game takes a lot of time and effort, let alone getting to play it.  The bed not only represents Todd the destroyer of beds, from D&D, but how much Arobinson22 likes to sleep.  Like the rest of us, Arobinson22 finds comfort and relaxation in sleeping which is why he goes to bed and rests whenever he gets the chance.

At the center of his avatar is his bed, however if you look closer you notice that the bed has a blue pillow and red sheets, believe it or not these colors have meaning towards his love of games as well.  They both reflect the colors of the Nintendo switch that is a device he plays most of his games on.  “Some of my favorite games are Apex,Minecraft,Pokemon, as well as Tetris”.  The green background represents Xbox as well as his love for turtles.  I asked him why he loves turtles so much and what grabbed his attention about turtles specifically, to which he replied, “Not sure why, just saw them and thought that they looked cool”.

Arobinson22 and I both knew what part of ourselves we wanted to show off in our avatars. The difference we had was in the actual process.  Arobinson22 had more drafts,I think this is due to how many ideas he was trying to fit together in just one large symbol.  He had six drafts to be specific, whereas I only had two.  Each of his drafts had different variations, each one different from the last.  My two drafts were both extremely similar,almost indistinguishable from each other.  Overall Arobinson22’s avatar is a well thought out and well executed symbol of his favorite hobbies,as well as what makes him so unique.
