Should have done it

A little backstory, Jacob is a 5’9 athletic boy who really enjoys playing soccer with his friends and being a part of a team that supports him. Jacob is in 8th grade and freshman year, Jacob decided to play soccer and it was some of the best times he had in middle school and high school. The high school Jacob played at was Oak Hill High School in the small town of Sabattus, Maine. The field that Jacob played on was not a very good field it was very bumpy and unpredictable when the ball was coming at you. In 8th grade and freshman year, Jacob played defense on the field the position he played was left back and right back. He really enjoyed that position but at the end of his freshman year, he tried to switch positions to play mid-field so that he could score and play defense.

Then came his sophomore year and he decided to stop playing soccer which he thought was a mistake because he really enjoyed soccer and really enjoyed the friends and people he played the sport with. Jacob realized many may not count this as a mistake that you can learn a lesson from, but he would beg to differ on that. Jacob ended up realizing that he made a mistake in quitting soccer because it was something he really enjoyed and helped him with mental health a lot. He knows this may not be as bad of a mistake to others but to him, it was a big mistake that he should not have done–he should have continued to play throughout high school.

Jacob accepted that quitting was a mistake and he started to turn it around by joining his friend’s men’s league last summer and playing summer soccer through the school. Jacob started to play the regular fall season my senior year after not playing for 2 years for the school, so he definitely was a bit rusty, hardly playing any varsity. He realized that he wasn’t going to be able to play or start varsity after not playing for 2 years of his high school career. Jacob regrets a lot not playing his sophomore and junior year of high school. He knew that if he continued to play through high school, he would be a lot better than he is now. In Jacob’s senior year he did have some success recording 2 varsity goals and 1 assist in a game against mountain valley. Jacob scored one of his goals in the first 45 minutes of the game and 1 assist in the first half, then scored his second goal in the last 15 minutes of the game.

After high school, Jacob plans to play for a college in the state of Maine, at Central Maine Community College which is how he decided to fix his mistake. Jacob decided to fix his mistake. He would just get back into playing soccer for the rest of high school and going to play in an indoor league to better himself for when he plays in college so he can make the team and get playing time sooner. Jacob accepts that he made a mistake quitting soccer and realizes that he was happier when he was playing soccer with his friends and his team.
