We all know laughter is absolutely the best medicine for anyone. Well, my dog likes to bring it out of me the most. My middle aged dog Maddie is a 4 year old black lab. She is full black lab, I do have two more labs, Macie and Daisy. Both full labs, Macie is 12 and Daisy is 10 months. Maddie enjoys the water more than anything, especially during the Summer months. Not only does Maddie like the pool, so do my ducks, Charlie and Charlotte. Both of them are Jumbo Pekins. I do have others now, Bonnie and Clyde are my two call ducks as well as my big baby Welsh, she is a welsh harlequin duck. I got these 3 not too long ago, they are young and the call ducks are extremely small. But they are full grown.
At the time I had only had Charlie and Charlotte, by now they have mosied up to the top of the hill to get to their kitty pool, it’s hot and they’re ready for a bath. It was around 7:30 in the morning on that day, the sun was bright and hot, so water was a necessity. They like their pool all year round. I am planning on digging a huge pond for them in the Spring. They will have plenty of water then! I’m sure they will be so excited. I had been out for a short time and I was getting their pool all filled up with cold fresh water. As soon as the water was full, Maddie jumps right into the pool, Charlotte and Charlie scatter as she starts to roll and splash. Meanwhile, I’m getting soaked from the amount of water going everywhere. She continues to basically go wild in the pool, having the time of her life. She has now poked a hole in the bottom of the kitty pool because of her paws. She is splashing and barking at this point. She has always had a little spunk, she is really unique . She sucks on a blanket a lot too, she loves blankets, especially mine. She has now made a mess and continued to just splash and splash for about 10 minutes. There is a ton of water everywhere, the other dogs are probably feeling the fresh cold water too.
The ducks have laid down now and are just watching her destroy the pool. I’m sure Charlie and Charlotte are feeling jealous, that she is in the pool and they are not. She’s out now and almost immediately when she gets out, the ducks come waddling over to get in their pool, they get in to find out there is barely any water left! I had re-filled it but it kept leaking water. After I stopped laughing and taking pictures and videos, I went to the store and got the ducks a brand new and bigger pool. I usually buy the smaller pools but this time I bought the larger and deeper ones so they had some more room. Shortly after I got home I re-filled the new pool. I suppose you can guess who was in the pool, yet again. I’ll give you a hint! It was not the ducks.
