When my dad was growing up his favorite thing to do was get up early on Saturday mornings and watch cartoons. From G.I. Joe to Masters of the Universe my dad was all about his cartoons. His favorite cartoon of all time was Spider-man. The cartoon Spider-man got him into superheroes and especially Marvel. My dad made sure that my sister and I grew up with a similar love for the Marvel universe before there was even a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). I remember when I was five my dad sat me down and we watched all of the Spider-man movies because the third Sam Raimi Spider-man came out. My sister and I probably ended up loving Marvel more than my dad. We got to go to the Boston Comic-con twice and even meet Stan Lee before he passed away. When my sister and I heard about the MCU Spider-man Homecoming movie coming out we were ecstatic.
My dad was looking forward to this movie because he personally didn’t like Tobey Maguire as Spider-man. We bought the tickets and went to see it. The movie was amazing but my favorite part of any Marvel movie is the classic after credit scene. It’s set up for the near future and it is always the last thing I expect. The movie ends and I’m sitting in my seat excited from what I just saw but still anxious for what I’m about to see. It felt like eternity passed and then on the screen Captain America comes out and says “Hi, I’m here to talk to you about something important, Patience.” I was so disappointed, but I realized Marvel has kinda taught me to be patient for what’s to come and the benefit of waiting is usually worth it.
