Another Country

The first time I felt very different from other people was when I did my exchange program, from the first step inside the plane until today, when I arrived at the airport I felt different from everyone, to start with the biggest difference is the language, not knowing how to ask for information or something for you to eat because you can’t say what you want, arriving in Maine and meeting my host family, the culture shock is very big as food, manners, games among other things… but what else affected me it was the foods like peanut butter that we didn’t eat at all and milk with the food, the first time I saw it I thought it was the weirdest thing in the world because we only drink milk in Brazil for breakfast, but with time I’m getting adapting well and forgetting a little of the small details that I noticed at the beginning, I can’t forget the difference in school too, to start with my high school we have 3 years and here are 4.

Now that I’ve talked about the main differences I have to talk, how is it to feel “different” from everyone because of the amazing that looks and very good, it’s not what everyone thinks you will be excluded (a little at first) but later when you make friends are the best because they will be there to help you and support you because you are the “different” member? Leaving your comfort zone, without your family, without your friends, it’s been the best time of my life and it’s good to be different from everyone because you have a differential, you will be the one who has more issues with other people, customs that they can be funny and with that you make a lot of friends, I recommend this experience to everyone, the first time you feel different from everyone else it will be one of the strangest times of your life but as the days go by you will see that it is not so bad, you create an environment that is not your home is not your real life, someday you will have to come back to reality and now i’m wishing that day will never come. So if you have an opportunity to be the “different” of the group or school or even a country, go with your eyes closed because it will be the best experience of your life.
