Call or Text

What are the pros and cons to calling and texting? There are many pros and cons to each of these options. Calling can come in handy in some situations, while in others, it may not be the best option to choose. Texting is the same way, some situations are good to choose doing it while others are bad. Either way, there is an even amount of people who use cell phones to call versus text. 

One pro to calling is that it is more efficient. You can get the conversation done faster and it saves the struggles of not knowing if the person got your text message or not. Another pro for calling is there is a slimmer chance of having a misunderstood conversation. While on call, you can hear someone’s emotions through the way they are talking. You also won’t run into misspelled or autocorrected words. A con to calling is if you are in a room with a bunch of people and it is loud, it can be hard to hear the other person on the phone. There are situations where you might not want the person next to you to hear the conversation you are having with someone else. Another con can be if you are in a spot that has bad service, the call might end or the person might keep breaking out. 

On the other hand, a pro to texting is that it is convenient for everyone at any time. You can always shoot someone a text and they can open it whenever they are free to do so or whenever they want to get back to you. Another pro is that if you need to go back to a conversation you and another person had, you can always check the text messages between you two. Unlike with calling, you have no way of going back to check what was said in the conversation other than your memory. A con for texting is that if the conversation was private and someone else looks through those texts, they now are no longer private. Another con is that it can be very distracting. Whether it’s when you are driving or doing homework or doing your job, it is more likely that someone will text others while they are supposed to be focusing on the task at hand. Overall, calling and texting are both great ways to communicate with someone that is not right next to you.
