What is a self-driving car and how does it work? A self driving car is just that, a car that doesn’t need a human to make it drive from point A to point B. Self driving cars rely on sensors and a bunch of other super complex technology. Basically you could get into one of these cars and type in the dash where you want to go. Then you sit back and watch your car drive itself to the destination. This new technology is great for a couple reasons. One reason being it should improve the flow of traffic. Another reason is it will reduce the chances for human error making everyone’s trip a little safer.
With a new innovation like this there are bound to be some problems and limitations. What are some of those problems and limitations? One of the main problems people see happening is people are forgetting how to drive and lose cognitive skills. Another problem and perhaps the biggest one is the fear of people being able to hack self-driving cars and take control from outside of it. If the car is set to a certain destination then if it is hacked your car could drive you to the completely wrong spot and lead to dangerous situations.
This new technology is being used both commercially and residently. An example of a business putting this to use is Papa Johns with their fully self driving delivery car. If you’re just looking for one for personal use though there are multiple companies producing these types of cars. I think overall self driving cars might be a little ahead of their time but with a little improvement will be a great addition to our everyday lives.
