Hello fellow classmates, we have finally made it to the end of our highschool career. This may be the end of high school but this is also the start of our real lives. It has taken a lot of hard work and procrastination to get me where I am today, whereas I just finished this speech last night. I have discovered that waiting until the last minute may not be the best way to get work done. The way I and many of my other classmates have worked these four years are like the people who collect sap for maple syrup. There are buckets out on taps and at first, the sap just starts to drip in, just like the work in the beginning of the semester, but then the buckets get full and then it’s a second, third, fourth and fifth bucket and then we can only boil down our work so fast. But in the end we are able to just make it, having that sweet reward at the end. I have made many amazing memories with pretty much everyone in our class.
There isn’t one person in the senior class from Oak Hill that I can’t get along and have a good time with. I think that is one reason why writing this speech has made me a little sad. I have had many classes that I did not enjoy taking, but I could always count on someone I enjoy being with to be in that class, and that goes for everyone in this class sitting here today. I have enjoyed seeing all the hard work we have all done collectively to get to where we all are today. At the end of this speech I don’t want you to just clap for me writing this speech, I want you all to clap for yourselves for doing so well and for getting to this point in life. We can only graduate High School once and I couldn’t see myself doing that with any other classmates. I know we will all move on into our lives but I just want to let everyone know I am very proud of all the friendships I have made with you all and if we left now without seeing each other again I would be okay with leaving on the terms we have.
I have always been told to leave things on a good note and rounding off these four eventful years definitely did that. I hope to stay in touch with many of you so we can see how each other’s futures play out. I want to see the success we all do and see the different paths we end up on. These past four years have been just like riding a rollercoaster. With the ups and downs, twists and turns, and that brutal stop when covid shut us down, but only temporarily. Because nothing can keep us from moving forward. We are the class of 2022 and where this road ends, I’m sure there will be many more roads getting built by the hard work and success you all will accomplish. I hope to see you all sometime in the future because believe it or not I will miss this place, I will miss you all and I will cherish all the great times we had together, Thank you all for helping me achieve the best high school career i could’ve asked for and good luck to all of you with the future ahead of you.
